With the murder-strewn Game of Thrones season 6 finale now a thing of Sunday night past, we can definitively say winter came (and went), and until season 7 debuts or George R.R. Martin decides to stop writing in his LiveJournal long enough to finish the series, we must search elsewhere for icy inspiration.
As luck would have it, Ben and Jerry’s collaboration with Fort Collins, CO-based beer company, New Belgium Brewing, arrives just in time to stir our senses cold, except this time it’s more delicious than deadly. But before you get your ice cream scooper all in a Cersei-style tizzy, let me explain …

Recently, Ben & Jerry’s—the daring dessert phenom responsible for such outrageous concoctions as Phish Food and Chunky Monkey—announced the company will be teaming up with New Belgium Brewing to create Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale. Yes, beer will make sugar-coated love to unbaked dough come Fall 2016. And what could be wrong about entwining hops-infused bubbly with the fourth-most-popular flavor to freeze inside those little ice cream quarts?
Nothing.
Sweeter still, $50,000 in proceeds from the B&J/New Belgium beer collab will benefit Protect Our Winters (POW), a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness around climate change. (Ben & Jerry’s is no stranger to community outreach or Earthly causes, so the pairing is pretty … cool. Also, feel free to let me know when you’ve had enough of the confectionery puns and I’ll stop. Maybe. Nah, they’re too fun and I have no chill! Oh geez …)
“We are excited to be partnering once again with the good folks at Ben & Jerry’s and POW,” said New Belgium Director of Sustainability, Jenn Vervier in a statement, alluding to last year’s wildly successful Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale, a limited run beer created with—what else?—Ben & Jerry’s Salted Caramel Brownie. Vervier also divulged that the beer in development “tastes amazing,” a sentiment echoed by Jay Curley, Ben & Jerry’s senior global manager, who called the new brew “delicious.”
Amazing and delicious, you say? Well, be still my Game Of Thrones-broken heart and tell me fall is coming because with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale in my autumn midst, I can’t wait.
