The trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is out. Debuting November 2016, the film follows Newt Scamander’s adventures in America and is based on the fictional wizarding textbook of the same name that catalogs such vital details as what exactly Puffskein eat and why milk should never be left out for a Knarl. When the movie begins, at least from what can be discerned watching the trailer, it appears Scamander has just arrived in a glitzy, Gilded-Age Manhattan following the publication of his Fantastic Beasts book, soon to become a mainstay in wizard libraries everywhere.
As the real story goes, like a Seeker to a Snitch, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara chased Rowling down and convinced her to make a movie about Scamander’s journey. “I always said I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about,” Rowling later said. “And this is it.”
With a script penned by Rowling herself—this will be her screenwriting debut—and the same dark yet enchantingly luminescent mood characteristic of Harry Potter movies past, Fantastic Beasts is shaping up to be, well, pretty fantastic.
