“Some of my best life decisions have been made while sitting on a barstool,” said Kent Alterman, president of Comedy Central. “I’m hoping this is one of them.”
Alterman’s network announced today it will air “The Barstool Rundown: Live from Houston,” a four-part comedy series kicking off Jan. 30 at midnight ET/PT and running until the Super Bowl Feb. 5.
“We created the Rundown in 2013 to bring to life the biggest topics from the blog,” Dave Portnoy, Founder of Barstool Sports, explained in a press release. “We’ve filmed it most everywhere – our apartments, Barstool’s original office in Milton, MA, on the Golden Gate Bridge, in the back of my 1980 Bronco. We’re excited to bring Barstool, our crowd and the Rundown to Comedy Central live from Houston.”
A brand of comedy “for the common man, by the common man,” Barstool Sports is like commentary you’d hear from that semi-drunk, vaguely creepy guy slumped into the corner stool of your local dive bar—his name may or may not be Frank but people call him that anyway and he’s cool with it—who actually knows what he’s saying when he yells something-something football from his beloved perch at the pub … and so do the dudes of Barstool sports.
Tune in to Comedy Centray Jan. 30 as Dave Portnoy (El Pres), Kevin Clancy (KFC) and Dan Katz’s (Big Cat) take on the final weeks of pro football as only the unfiltered, raw, spottily facial-haired crew of Barstool Sports can.
