Ever since I first saw The Devil Wears Prada years ago, I’ve been mildly—fanatically—obsessed with Vogue editor-in-chief and reigning fashion empress of the universe, Anna Wintour. (The movie also motivated me to cut my own unfortunate version of bangs and think “to intern” meant to romp around Paris while wearing ridiculously chic ball gowns but that’s a story for another day. Back to Anna …) I’ve watched The September Issue, I’ve read the articles written about her and yet, I can never seem to get enough of the boss lady who is cooler than a Bond girl at a James Dean costume party held inside an air-conditioned igloo.
So, when word got out that Anna filmed a video for Vogue with none other than the hilarious Amy Schumer (of 2016’s Trainwreck and Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer), I didn’t even have to click play to know I’d love every second of what was about to go down.

Coincidentally, Amy is Vogue’s July cover girl and in a well-crafted story shot by Annie Leibovitz and penned by Jonathan Van Meter, delivers this killer line: “I am very into making up my own rules,” she told Van Meter. “Like, I don’t want to play the game and succeed at it. I want to redefine it.”
But if Amy is redefining the game then Anna is helping her win, taking Amy’s brand of perfectly imperfect humor and giving it a glossy-paged seal of approval. Well, tralala! Now Amy’s cover—and the job-swapping video—become the official confluence of two seemingly conflicting ideas: The ultimate This Is Who I Am girl aligning with the ultimate This Is Who You Should Be magazine. Also, Anna made a “Wintour is coming” joke so even if my philosophical scrutiny is completely wrong, we’ll always have that. And Paris. We’ll always have Paris.
